The President of the Federation of Tourism Associations of Nigeria, FTAN, Dr Aliyu Ajayi Badaki has stated that the body will not be left out in every tourism policy formulation and implementation in Nigeria.
Aliyu, who was newly elected as the President of the Federation last month, made this vow in his presentation at the ongoing FTAN Retreat at Kapita Klub and Apartments in Abuja.
He stated that the Federation is committed to transparency in leadership, accountability and stronger partnership with government, and stakeholders in strengthening the institution for long term sustainability.
Badaki further stated that FTAN will collaborate with all the stakeholders to change the tourism narrative in Nigeria. This is as he pledged that under his leadership there will be a clear cut national vision and direction for FTAN’s leadership team, including the drafting and validation of the Tourism Transformation Mandate 2025–2027.
He promised to always consult with the NEC, zonal leaders, and key tourism stakeholders in printing, publishing, and disseminating the Presidential Agenda Document and also to deliver Presidential Address annually at the Federation’s AGM, with milestone updates,
Secretariat support, consultancy services, financial resources for document production and AGM events.
According to him, there will be an Executive Council Governance Strengthening Programme to enhance decision-making efficiency and cohesion within the Governing Council and NEC, developing governance framework and guidelines, conduct of quarterly NEC performance review and alignment sessions, deploying executive dashboards to monitor decisions and implementation.
At the Retreat, the newly inducted Executive Council members, including Zonal Vice Presidents presented their programmes on how to move the Federation forward in their respective positions and zones.
