Ekhaguere has made landmark contributions to these branches of mathematics in a series of seminal publications in highly reputed international academic journals. In pursuit of his academic career, Ekhaguere has visited all the continents of the world and has, over the years, had the distinction of being an invited academic speaker on multiple occasions in many international conferences held in Nigeria and abroad.

In global recognition of his outstanding publications, the Emeritus Professor has held several visiting scientist/professorial positions in reputable research institutions around the world and won many highly competitive and prestigious scholarships/fellowships/sponsorships from diverse academic foundations/institutions.

These include Associateship and Senior Associateship of the Abdus Salam International Centre for Theoretical Physics, Trieste, Italy, Fellowship of the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, Bonn, Germany, Staff Exchange Fellowship of the Association of African Universities, and sponsorships by the Volkswagen Foundation, London Mathematical Society and the Japanese Society for the Promotion of Science.

He is a member of several academic societies and also of the Advisory Board of the Academics Without Borders (AWB) [formerly called: Academics for Higher Education and Development (AHED)], based in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. He serves on the editorial boards of, and is a reviewer for, several international journals on mathematics and mathematical physics. An inspiring lecturer and mentor, he upholds the highest standard and integrity of mathematical research and training, as evidenced by the high quality of the MSc, MPhil and PhD graduates supervised by him.

Some of his former PhD students have themselves become highly distinguished as academics in the professorial cadre. He is the Founder and pioneer President of the International Centre for Mathematical & Computer Sciences (ICMCS), Ibadan (www.icmcs.org).

Ekhaguere is a Fellow of the African Academy of Sciences (FAAS), a Fellow of the Nigerian Mathematical Society (FNMS) and a Fellow of the Institute of Operations Research and Management Sciences (FIORMS). He was the sole winner of the 2021 Nigerian National Order of Merit (NNOM) laurel, Nigeria’s highest award for academic and intellectual excellence, in Mathematical Physics within the broad category of Science.

He occupies the life-long position of Emeritus Professor of Mathematics at the University of Ibadan, where he continues to carry out multiple academic activities, including the training and supervision of MSc, MPhil and PhD candidates, in furtherance of national development and progress.
